Garuda head made of papier-mâché

2019. For the 13th century's Garuda harps, We are developing, with Philippe Brousseau, new heads made of papier-mâché. This process offers many advantages:

  • Preservation of the environment (less wood)
  • Better stability of the instrument
  • Easy to play with the harp on the thighs
  • Lower cost
  • New aesthetics

Angkorian harps closer to the original

2018-2019. We have now discovered about forty bas-reliefs representing harps and can say that the Angkorian harps only had one foot in front. As we wish to get as close as possible to the original instruments, the new harps developed with Leng Pohy in Siem Reap no longer have the four feet of the 2013 models. This is an additional step towards authenticity.

Manufacturers of this harp: sculpture by Leng Pohy; soundboard and pegs by Thean Nga; acrylic lacquer by Philippe Brousseau; golden sheet by Patrick Kersalé.
